is it normal for a level 8 to lose 7000 xp on a death by bugbears? was about to lvl too

I have as well but I was level 10 and it was awhile ago.

the death penalty has also been tweaked a couple of times. but if you have a screen shot you could send us, we could rectify it. (does depend on the level)
