Germi Balvarks Empty
PostSubject: Germi Balvarks   Germi Balvarks I_icon_minitimeFri Jul 25, 2008 10:19 pm

Germi was born into a small and exclusive clan. Hard working, and dedicated to the service of Mithril Hall through military endevours and self-sacrifice in the front lines. Germi's father was slain in battle during a troll uprising to the south but a month before his son was born. Though his mothers and brothers raised him in his place, Germi always resented his fathers sacrifice though often heard tales of his endevours in his youth.

When Germi matured, he sought to follow in the footsteps of his father. He sought to bare the shield of his dwarven brothers in defence of the King and their borders, grow his beard long and be the man his father was in legend. When he enrolled into his service he found the military not to his expectation. Many other soldiers thrived in the environment, yet Germi served under a general few saw eye to eye with.

During his service, himself and his troop were often subject to tests of faith and favour which involved instances of recklessness, danger, and fatality. Loyalty was always in question and few dared to speak out against the sometimes questionable orders of their general. Yet, the general was charismatic, and knew how to form the young dwarves into proud Defenders.

Soon, however, it became apparant their was an agenda behind the generals steely dwarven eyes. The young dwarves had grown to respect their general in an almost fanatic loyalty. So much so, they barely questioned their orders when given. The general began comissioning warrants on dwarven clans within Mithril Hall for their expulsion, and sometimes execution for acts he justified and brought upon the ministries of Justice as entirely plausable.

Carrying out the dirty work was Germi, and his men. Their hands were more often than not stained with the blood of those they had sworn to protect, though they were convinced it was for the good of their Hall and the King. The time eventually came when the Balvarks where on the chopping block. By then Germi had little qualms about their execution. So deep sown were seeds of his militant loyalty that it was deemed and excused by the general as, 'for the good of the land', and 'a matter above bonds of kinship and clan'.

Mithril hall came to realise the generals plans only too late, when the defenders stood before the king himself. Many clans were already exiled or expired, and though the final attempt at regicide failed, the survivors of the chamber battle maintained their loyalty to their unjust cause. The clans that had been targetted through the years where those of greatest loyalty to the king, and highest standing that might have been a challenge for the general to conquer. Shamed, Germi and some others who had survived the battle with the Kings Guard had their beards shaved and were thrown into the dungeons. Eventually the general was brought to justice, also, though some defenders remained elusive.

When the time came for their public execution, it was no suprise a resistance was held in the center of the Halls. Ten remaining dwarves of loyalty to their general assulted the prison officers and innocent bystanders and dared an excape by safeguarding the general and those arrested within their protective circle.

They had fled the citidel but, inevitabley, they were hunted down outside the impenetrable walls of their former home by dwarven rangers. After the death of the general in a fatal skirmish there was little reason for the troop to remain together and Germi set on his own way, as did the others, on good terms. Old habbits die hard however, and the now older dwarf still maintains a lack of morality concerning matters of life and death. He does keep to heart his old moral code which he feels he still has upheld since his sworn duty to the King in the begining. At times he feels he must prove himself, to his father who's name he shares, if anyone.

He still believes he deserved to have been knighted for the misconduct he performed in his dwarf home, and has no regrets.

A little more

Germi struggles to think for himself at times since he has spent his life under the authority of others. That is not to say he is a fool, for he has a gifted intellect. His years of military service, diet, and strict lifestyle choices have maintained a formidable physique. He is unsightly, some might say, baring scars of skirmishes and Clanwars on his face and body. He also has little time to maintain his hygene, but enjoys braiding his beard and adorning himself with bronze and iron jewlery.
